Art as a Derivative – The Concept

The idea of placing the activities of financial markets at the centre of my art practice came to me during 2011. I have absolutely no background in finance, but the more I looked into this world, the more fascinated I became.

And also, because finance has exerted an increasing impact in the world of art over recent decades, I felt it was time for an artist to return the favour.

In the creation of Art as a Derivative, I have listened to hundreds of hours of interviews and discussion forums, read many academic papers on finance and combed the global financial media for insights. Whenever possible, I have also attended conferences and seminars on subjects relevant to my research.
